Ellie
When Kendra suggested that she knew a girl that was trying
to find a good home for her show horse, I was not interested. I can't
remember what eventually swayed me to pay attention, perhaps because
Kendra seemed to think it was a good idea. Whatever the reason, I'm
glad I did. Ellie is a 16.2 hand Percheron/Thoroughbred draft cross,
same as Hercules. Her last owner showed her hunters on local circuits
for several years, before her life became too busy for horses to be in
it. Ellie is a super ride. She is used primarily in the 2'0 and up
classes. She is drop dead gorgeous and kind and sweet to be around. If
you know her long enough, she may just nicker to you when you come down
the aisle. I could tell from the first time she was used in one of
Cedar Lodge's lessons that she was happy to have a job again.Ellie
thrives with all the attention and the transition to herd life, though
it took her a bit of time to adjust is a winner in her book. Besides a
lesson horse, Ellie will be a candidate for show team riders. She is
also a favorite on the IEA circuit when Cedar Lodge hosts horse shows.
For a while we played around with making Ellie a vaulting horse, and
Ellie was willing, but Chris was not. Every time we think about making
Ellie something other than what she specializes in: a super
intermediate to advanced jumping horse, Chris starts giving me dirty
looks. Fine. Ellie has found her niche and Chris will make sure she
stays there.
Welcome home, Ellie.
